Beginning from Leh, the 8 days long tour itinerary covers monasteries of Indus valley, Alchi, Lamayuru and Nubra Valley before concluding back in Leh. Early morning arrival at Leh airport followed by assisted transfer to the hotel by our tour representative. For rest of the day, you’ll be habituated to the high altitude of Ladakh region. In the evening, proceed on a walking tour to the local bazaars of Leh.
An overnight stay will be provided in the hotel at Leh.
Post an unhurried breakfast in the morning, set out on a sightseeing tour across Leh. Visit Shanti Stupa (a Japanese peace pagoda situated atop a hill in Changsha village), Sankar Gompa and Leh Palace (a former residence of King Tashi Namgyel, which has been taken up by Archaeological Survey of India for renovation). Stroll around the local markets of Leh in the evening and pick up traditional crafts and souvenir items. An overnight stay in the hotel at Leh.
Post a leisurely breakfast in the morning, leave by road to Thikse village for exploring Thikse monastery. Post sightseeing at Thikse village, hit the road to Hemis monastery (the largest Gompa in Ladakh and the venue for celebrating the birth anniversary of Guru Padma Sambhava).While heading back to Leh, make a stopover at Stok Palace & the Museum (a museum featuring fabulous collection of period costumes, jewelry and artifacts). Return back to your hotel in the evening where you are provided dinner and an overnight stay.
Post breakfast in the morning, head straight to Alchi. (Packed lunch will be served en-route). En-route visit Magnetic hill (It is said that any vehicle parked on this metallic road in neutral gear slides up the hill), Basgo Fort (the erstwhile seat of Namgyel family, Basgo fort is best visited for 16th century mural paintings and other artifacts), Likir monastery (Built in 18th century, the Likir Gompa offers a majestic view of Himalayas. While in Likir, one can purchase Thanka paintings, earthen pots and carved wooden folding stools made by local artisans) and Confluence of Indus and Zangskar river. On reaching Alchi, visit Alchi monastery (Situated 70 kilometers away from Leh, Alchi Gompa is best visited for miniature size paintings adorning its walls.) An overnight stay and dinner at hotel/camp in Alchi.
Early morning, hit the road to Lamayuru. Explore the tourist attractions of Lamayuru which include Rizong monastery (Popularly known as Meditation paradise, Rizong Gompa is believed to be the meditation ground of Guru Padma Sambhava) and Chulichan nunnery (20 nuns residing in this nunnery provide food and clothes to the monks). Return back to Leh for an overnight stay at thew hotel.
Early morning, leave by road to Nubra Valley via Kardungla Pass (Known as the highest motorable road in the world, which is just 39 kilometers away from Nubra valley). On reaching Nubra valley, hop on a camel and explore the White Sand Dunes in Hunder. Later, visit Hunder and Diskit monastery (subject to time availability) and check in at a deluxe camp. Spend a relaxed evening and then an overnight stay in the camp.
Post breakfast in the morning, drive back to Leh via Kardungla Pass. In the evening, explore the local bazaars of Leh and visit Leh Jokhang/Mosque. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Today you’ll be transferred to the Leh airport to board your flight back to Delhi.
